53rd. Nanael. ננאׄאׄלּׄ. His attribute (God who abases the proud). He corresponds to the holy name Obra (1), according to the language of the Maltese. His ray begins from the 216th degree of the sphere up to the 265th, inclusively, corresponding to the 27th decade and to the genius named Chommé, under the influence of Saturn. He presides over the following days: 11 May, 22 July, 2 October, 13 December, 23 February. The invocation is made from twenty minutes past five in the afternoon until forty minutes past five, pronouncing the divine names with the 75th verse of psalm 118. (Cognovi Domine quia æquitas judicia tua : et in veritate tua humiliasti me.) This psalm is divided into 22 equal parts, corresponding to the 22 Hebrew letters and to the 22 sacred names of God, which correspond to each of these letters, and which indicate the ladder by which the wise ascend to the contemplation of God. The cabalists claim that the holy Virgin recited it every day (see the Cabala of the Psalms). This genius rules over the high sciences; he influences clergymen, professors, magistrates, and men of law. The person who is born under this influence will have a melancholy temperament; they will love private life, rest and meditation; and they will distinguish themselves by their knowledge of the abstract sciences. The contrary genius rules over ignorance and all the bad qualities of body and soul. (1) The holy name Obra corresponds to psalm 132, according to the cabala. This psalm teaches us that all men must love one another as brothers, that they must be united among themselves, and must all live together. It serves to obtain the friendship and favors of those one desires, and to live in peace with everyone.

Son rayon commence depuis le 216e. degré de la sphère jusqu'au 265e., inclusivement correspondant à la 27e. décade et au génie nommé Chommé, sous l'influence de Saturne. Il préside les jours suivants : 11 mai, 22 juillet, 2 octobre, 13 décembre, 23 février. L'invocation se fait depuis 5 heures 20 minutes du soir jusqu'à 5 heures 40 minutes, en prononçant les noms divins avec le 75e. verset du psaume 118. (Cognovi Domine quia æquitas judicia tua : et in veritate tua humiliasti me.) Ce psaume est divisé en 22 parties égales, correspondant aux 22 lettres hébraïques et aux 22 noms sacrés de Dieu, qui correspondent à chacune de ces lettres, et qui indiquent l'échelle par laquelle les sages montent à la contemplation de Dieu.
