Lenain’s entry

70th. Jabamiah יׄבמיׄה (1). Its attribute (Word which produces all things). He corresponds to the holy name Aris, according to the language of the Béotians. His ray begins from the 346th degree of the sphere up to the 350th, inclusively, corresponding to the 35th decade and to the genius named Thopibui. He presides over the following five days: 28 May, 8 August, 19 October, 30 December, 12 March. The invocation is made every day from 11 o'clock in the evening until 11 o'clock 20 minutes. One must pronounce the request with the divine names and the 1st verse of Genesis: (In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth). This genius governs the generation of beings, and the phenomena of nature; he protects those who wish to regenerate themselves, and re-establish within themselves the harmony that was broken by Adam's disobedience, which is done by exalting oneself toward God, and by purifying, through the elements, those things which compose the nature of man: it is then that the wise man re-enters into the principle of creation; that he recovers his rights, his first dignity; that he becomes again the master of nature, and that he enjoys all the prerogatives that God gave him in creating him. The person who is born under this influence will be distinguished by their genius; they will be considered by the learned men of all nations, and they will become one of the foremost lights of philosophy. The contrary genius governs atheism, and all those who spread dangerous writings; it influences critics and literary disputes. (1) The Abbé de Villars says that this name expresses the eternal fecundity of God (see the Comte de Gabalis, 4th conversation). This work is found in the Recueil des voyages imaginaires et romans cabalistiques, volume 34. The author relates on this subject a singular story: "When Noah wandered upon the avenging waves that flooded the universe, women were then reduced to a small number who saved themselves in the cabalistic ark, which this second father of the world had built; this great man, groaning to see the frightful chastisement with which the Lord punished the crimes caused by the love that Adam had had for his Eve; seeing that Adam had brought ruin on his posterity by preferring Eve to the daughters of the elements; Noah, I say, having become wise by the fatal example of Adam, consented that Vesta, his wife, should give herself to the salamander Oromasis, prince of the fiery substances, and persuaded his three children to also yield their three wives to the princes of the three other elements. The universe was in a short time repeopled with men so heroic, so learned, so admirable, that their posterity, dazzled by their virtues, took them for divinities. One of Noah's children, rebellious against his father's counsel, could not resist the attractions of his wife, any more than Adam could resist the charms of his Eve; but as Adam's sin had blackened all the souls of his descendants, the little complaisance that Ham had for the sylphs marked all his black posterity; from this comes, our cabalists say, the horrible complexion of the Ethiopians, and of all those hideous peoples who are commanded to dwell beneath the torrid zone, in punishment of the profane ardour of their father. Noah came out of the Ark, and seeing that Vesta, his wife, only grew more beautiful through the commerce she had with her lover Oromasis, became passionate for her again. Ham, fearing that his father might again go populate the earth with children as black as his Ethiopians, took his moment, one day when the good old man was full of wine, and castrated him without mercy. Oromasis, whom jealousy did not prevent from taking pity on his rival's disgrace, taught his son Zoroaster, otherwise named Japheth, the name of the almighty God which expresses his eternal fecundity: Japheth pronounced six times, alternately with his brother Shem, walking backwards toward the patriarch, the dreadful name JABAMIAH; and they restored the old man whole. This story, misunderstood, caused the Greeks to say that the oldest of the Gods had been castrated by one of his children." One sees, in the Lettres cabalistiques, that the salvation of the cabalists was worked in Jabamiah and by Jabamiah.

Le texte de Lenain

70e. Jabamiah יׄבמיׄה (1).
